DAO ENZYMES

Updated: 1 day ago

There are two brands recommended by 2 lyme doctors I spoke with on this. I have used both.

Remember there is a 25% discount on top brand supplments here:

"If you don’t have enough DAO, it can cause histamine levels to rise. If this goes on long enough, it can cause histamine sensitivity, chronic inflammation or mast cell activation syndrome. If you suspect you have too much histamine or not enough DAO enzyme there are a couple of things you can do."

"So even if you are taking a DAO enzyme supplement, you may not have had the nutrients needed that DAO depends on. Like B6, for example. "

"Your body produces enzymes known as diamine oxidase (DAO) that keep your histamine levels in check. If for some reason you don’t break down histamine properly, it begins to build up and you develop what we call histamine intolerance."

"The DAO enzyme gets overwhelmed from all the histamine and cannot get rid of it all."

Advice from our member/friend Cortney M. who manages groups for ALPHA GAL.

"Just FYI for those with alpha-gal. DAO is derived from beef or pork kidney and is the most concentrated source of AG that has been tested. If you react to this supplement, you should be tested for alpha-gal. It’s a delayed reaction to mammalian meat, organs, and byproducts. There is a vegan version called a nature DAO but it’s made from pea protein. Those who have histamine intolerance might not tolerate pea protein."
